Cape Town FIFA Fan Zones: Cape Town Restaurants
The FIFA World Cup will start soon. I dont know about you guys – but I feel the excitement. 2 months ago, no one talked about it. No excitement, no vibe, no gees. And now all we see on TV, hear on radio and people talk about is the World Cup. It’s gonna be massive – and it’s gonna be awesome. And if you think differently, go away – I dont even wanna waste my time on you!
So, there must be some people out there – disappointed like I am – that dont have any tickets to games. But dont despair: There are several fan zones open during the time of the FIFA World Cup in Cape Town. These are places where people can watch all the soccer games on large screens. Below a pic of a fanzone four years ago in Berlin. Awesome? Yes!
The FIFA Fan Fest at the Grand Parade will be open daily from 10 am until midnight . No cover charge. It’s located right next to the Castle of Good Hope as well as Cape Towns City Hall and the upgraded Railway Station. The Fan park can host around 20 000 fans daily. There will be acts of local entertainers as well. A 2 km fan walk will link the Grand Parade to the new Cape Town Stadium in Green Point. Parking areas will also be available. Other fanzones will be located will be located at the Bellville Velodrome, the Swarklip Sports Complex and also in Athlone.
Now, you might be thinking that this is all crap. And i hear you… its gonna be windy and wet and cold. But I dont care, this will be the only time that Cape Town will experience this vibe and I am not missing it. For those, who arent as comitted but still want to be part of the World Cup, the CTICC has come through in a big way. They’re hosting several events associated with the FIFA World Cup and you can watch all the soccer games LIVE. Tickets will be available @ CompuTicket.
You’ll find me at Paulaner @ the V&A for Germany games. It’s a restaurant at the V&A Waterfront offering awesome Pretzels and even better beer. Primi is also a decent place to hang out. They have a seperate dining / viewing area, where they have set up a huge big screen TV. The small room creates the perfect atmosphere for any FIFA World Cup enthusiast. I am sure there are other venues that will be pumping…any insider tips? Please comment below to help us find the best Restaurants in Cape Town to watch the World Cup in Cape Town. Thank You!
